JOAD/AAP Email: 04/07/17

posted Apr 7, 2017, 7:17 AM by Lynda LeCompte

Outdoor JOAD will start at 10:00 am (some had been told 9:00 am) at Buffalo Field Archery Club.

The gates will be open from 8:00, and we encourage you to come early to get sighted in. If this is your first time shooting outdoors, have someone "spot" you as as you shoot. It is very easy to lose arrows in the grass. Early arrivers can also help set up bales, as needed. That will be greatly appreciated! While you will be scoring tomorrow, it will be a time of getting used to outside, getting sighted in and Coach John will assist as needed. There is no extra fee involved. It is covered in your X10 membership.

Please know which pin and the score you are going for next. While we do keep track of the scores, it is the archer's responsibilty to come to JOAD knowing which pin and score they are working on. Score matrix found here.

Things to bring / consider:

  • At least 6 arrows, preferably a few more. (shooting 6 ends of 6 = 36 arrows)
  • Binoculars - especially for longer distances.
  • Fluid - water, coconut water etc. You must hydrate in advance as well as outside!
  • Mosquito spray
  • Sunscreen
  • Snacks - please make sure to eat breakfast before you come to avoid low blood sugar.
  • The trash containers may be full. If they are, please avoid that area and watch for snakes. This is Texas!
  • Have fun!!!
