Academy email 2/8/17: Changes in Lessons and Classes

Lesson Changes

We have debated long and hard about the best way forward to encourage our students to improve their chances of success through accelerated learning. Research shows that many lessons orientated facilities only allow lessons to be booked in blocks and have to be taken on a regular basis. I do not believe that this allows for the best handling of our student's development. With that in mind, we will remain somewhat flexible on the booking of lessons, but will no longer offer discount on single lessons. However, to encourage accelerated learning through lessons attendance, we will be altering our price structure to where a discount ($15) will be given when four lessons are booked. The four lessons must be used within a two-month time frame.

This means that members can now book single lessons online or book packages in-store (will be available online soon). We are told frequently that we do not charge enough for lessons, which is true when you compare other archery lessons in the Greater Houston area that can be between $60-$100 for private lessons.

Here is the revised Lessons Policy.

Open Class

We are retiring Tuesday Night's Open Class. While some archers have taken advantage of Open Class, it has not been fully utilized. We feel that our instructors time can be utilized more constructively during a JOAD class where we have most of our students. As we will not be shooting for pins every week, there will still be opportunity for skills development at JOAD, in addition to lessons.

Some dislike change, but it keeps things fresh! We are proud of our X10 Academy Archers and their efforts, and we want to position ourselves to grow the Academy and give our very best. Thank you for rolling with the punches as we refine ourselves.

Yours, in archery,
