Academy email 1/23/17: JOAD Cup & General Update

posted Feb 17, 2017, 7:35 AM by Lynda LeCompte

It's almost February, with Vegas, Indoor State, and Nationals right around the corner! We recognise that this will be a first for some of our archers, and many of our archers will not be attending any of these shoots. With that said, we want you to know that we are here to answer any questions you may have about what to expect, and how to prepare. We will be addressing these topics in JOAD classes and directly in student lessons. The most important thing to remember is that these events are a great time to make new friends, get a new experience and HAVE FUN!! If there was just one word to keep in mind, I would recommend, "Relax". Taking a deep zen breath, slowly exhaling and relaxing every muscle in your body does wonders for the soul!

X10 Indoor Classic and JOAD Cup - Still time to register!
The cup is HUGE, and we should plan on making a spot for it at X10. :D
Any JOAD club can win the cup if they meet the entry criteria. So far that is X10 Archery Academy and the Woodlands JOAD. This is friendly competition - it really is - but our mantra is "Come and take it!" Haha. Come on archers, there is still time to register.

JOAD / AAP Changes
Our JOAD / AAP program will start to look a little different moving forward. We have already announced that not every shoot wll be a pin shoot. Some archers are not able to attend Open Class on Tuesday nights, and may not have the schedule for lessons. So we want to ensure that everyone has the opportunity for skills development.

To further grow the program, we will be making the X10 Archery Academy a full non-profit entity. This means that we will be able to solicit grants and funding to improve how the program looks and operates, benefitting every archer and their goals, from recreational through to the elite level archer.

We will flesh this out some more, with supporting information. In the interim, keep coming to JOAD / AAP! We will be seeking support from parents and friends of JOAD to help the Academy realize its goals.

Compound NTS Clinic - Save the date(s) - Feb 6th / 7th, 6:30 - 8pm?
In fact, pencil in a couple of dates. We are looking at either the Monday or Tuesday evening for this clinic. This is very impromptu, but an opportunity not to be missed. Larry Wise, JDT (Junior Dream Team) coach and long time compound bow educator will be at X10 Archery and is happy to put on a Compound NTS clinic. If you shoot compound or teach, you need to be there. It's just that simple.  It will be a small fee of $25. Registration will be open as soon as we can nail the day/time.

That's it! See you at the range
